Olympic Champions to qualify for Hyundai Archery World Cup Final in 2020

World Archery has released the rules for the 2020 Hyundai Archery World Cup following approval by the Executive Board on 8 December.

Among the changes planned for the upcoming season are an increase of prize money at stages and the addition of an Olympic wildcard qualifier at the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final.

The prize fund per stage will raise from 14,000 CHF to 21,000 CHF, with the addition of prize money for the fourth-place finisher. The total prize fund for results on the circuit in 2020 totals 217,000 CHF.

As well as each stage winner receiving automatic qualification to the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final, the two Olympic Champions from Tokyo 2020 will also receive tickets. These two spots – introduced as Olympic wildcards – will not be subject to the two-athletes-per-nation rule.

The Hyundai Archery World Cup was launched in 2006 as an annual international tour.

Entering its 15th season, the circuit has become a valuable commercial asset, set the standard for archery event organisation and a consistent source of exposure on digital and linear platforms.

The 2020 Hyundai Archery World Cup consists of three stages and a Hyundai Archery World Cup Final. It is traditionally five events but shortens to four in an Olympic year.

Stages are scheduled to be held in Guatemala City in April, Shanghai in May and Berlin in June. The host of the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final is yet to be announced but the event is expected to be held at the end of September.

The third stage of the 2020 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Berlin will also act as the final qualification tournament for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
