Top 10: Most-watched World Cup matches on YouTube

World Archery’s YouTube channel broke 50 million total views after stage two of the 2018 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Antalya.

With archery fans having racked up over 550 cumulative years of footage consumed, we thought it was time to take a look at which videos were post popular. These are the most watched matches from the last 12-and-a-bit years of the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit.

10. LEE SEUNGYUN v RIAU EGA AGATHA

The bronze medal match from Shanghai, the opening stage of the 2015 Archery World Cup season. The reigning World Archery Champion at the time, Korea’s Lee shot a seven in the first set…

9. CHOI BOMIN v PARK SUNG-HYUN

Now a member of the world championship winning Korean compound women’s team, Choi Bomin was previously an elite recurve archer. Here she takes on one of the all-time greats.

8. Korea v USA

Im Dong Hyun, Lee Woo Seok and Shin Jae Hyun – and this was Korea’s B-team in 2015.

7. JEFF HENCKELS v DAI XIAOXIANG

An Olympic medallist in Dai goes against Luxembourg’s Henckels, in his major arena debut.

6. ROMAIN GIROUILLE v PARK KYUNG-MO

Such a tight match.

5. JORGE JIMENEZ v PATRIZIO HOFER

Jimenez was one of the most consistent performers over the first four years of the Archery World Cup, winning 11 individual medals on the circuit – including the Final in 2007.

4. USA v Denmark

Just a couple of months after this match, back in Turkey, Denmark would dethrone the USA for the compound men’s team world title.

3. BRADY ELLISON v OH JIN HYEK

It was only a quarterfinal, but it might have been the best match at the 2014 Archery World Cup Final in Lausanne. In today’s bracket format, athletes don’t meet each other regularly and having two of the very best of the modern game line-up opposite each other is always a treat.

2. AMANDINE BOUILLOT v IVANA BUDEN

Bouillot only shot once individually after this bronze final with Ivana Buden in the Olympic Capital of Lausanne, the first time it held the Archery World Cup Final back in 2008.

A surprising number one? Not only does this match feature two nations with (perhaps surprisingly) strong archery audiences, but it’s a really, really good contest. Indonesia look strong to start with…
