World bronze medallist Ravenscroft returns to British team for Den Bosch

Copenhagen 2015 world bronze medallist Adam Ravenscroft is among the archers that have been named to Great Britain’s compound team for the 2019 Hyundai World Archery Championships in ’s-Hertogenbosch in June.

“That podium made me realise what was possible and pushed me to work hard and achieve more,” said Ravenscroft, who beat Camilo Cardona to that third place at the worlds four years ago.

“[This year’s] men’s team is the same as 2018 – and, although we haven‘t changed much we have been able to get more experience and know how to work better together.”

He’ll be joined in Den Bosch by James Mason and Neil Bridgewater. It’s the group that won the compound men’s team title at the European Archery Championships in 2018.

Ravenscroft has competed at eight Hyundai Archery World Cup stages and World Archery Championship events over the last seven years. While his bronze medal in Copenhagen was somewhat unexpected, he has finished in the top 10 individually at five of those tournaments.

The 37-year-old also shot at the worlds in Belek in 2013, but missed the Hyundai World Archery Championships in Mexico City in 2017 due to the birth of his daughter.

The British compound women’s team for Den Bosch was named as Lucy Mason, Ella Gibson and Layla Annison. All three are aged 18 or under and the ladies beat the junior ranking round world record at the European Grand Prix in Bucharest, Romania in April.

Great Britain’s recurve team will not be announced until after the third stage of the 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Antalya.

It was recently announced that both the Hyundai World Archery Championships and the World Archery Para Championships would be broadcast in the UK via the BBC’s digital platforms.

The 2019 Hyundai World Archery Championships take place on 10-16 June in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
