Quotes of Finals

Women Recurve   YUN Ok-Hee (KOR) – Gold medal winner This is the third time that I moved into the World Cup Final. My hard practice is finally rewarded!   I wasn’t affected too much by the weather, as we used to train in a bad weather condition.   For me, result is not big thing anymore. It`s more about your mental intensity in different kind of situation, showing your maturity, and keeping it steady.   Victoriya KOVAL (UKR)- silver medal winner Very pleased and very happy. Despite that the wind was a little tricky, I have made it to the silver medal for my first World Cup Final appearance!   KI Bo Bae (KOR) – Bronze medal winner For me, I was not fully satisfied by the result, given that I didn’t get through the final. But still, for the whole game, I am very happy.   I was not that into that atmosphere, as we usually play in a quiet area. I was getting a little bit nervous than usual. The comment I have about the wind is that when I practiced before the game there was no wind. On the final field, there was a sudden change in the weather.   Justyna MOSPINEK (POL) To be honnest, I do not know why I lost. Perhaps it was because of the wind. I made good shots but every third shot went to the left. For me those shots were the same. I could not feel any difference. If I would have shot 8 or maybe 7, I would be able to understand it, but not 6. I did not feel myself shaking or doing anything different or wrong in that moment. I really cannot tell why.   It is OK—I still feel like I did before. It is “the final of the finals”. Only the best shooters are here. So, I am proud to be taking part in it. The weather is still not very helpful. And now that the sun is shining the wind is even stronger. When it rained a bit this morning at least the wind calmed down.   Men Compound   Sergio PAGNI (ITA) --- Gold medal winner Now I know I am the first one who has successfully done this (repeat as a World Cup Final winner)! It makes me in such a thrill. But during the game, I didn’t give any thought about the history record, all I was thinking was shooting. I shot with very strong players, it was a really intensive game.   There is never any single moment that I am thinking about the possibility to lose, even when my game is not running so good. I always believe that I can do it.   The environment, the wind was difficult. I made my adjustments. You could see I waited for better timing several times and let the wind go.   Braden GELLENTHIEN (USA)---silver medal winner   After the semifinal I am coming to my goal. Last year in Copenhagen, I also played PAGNI in the final and he won the match. So now I think it is my turn. I am looking forward to get my revenge.   After the final I was very nervous before this match. PAGNI is a very good shooter. This year I want to do better in the final. Of course I am unhappy. That was quiet a shocker. I think the wind did effect both shooters and PAGNI handled it better than I did at the end.   Rodger WILLET (USA) --- Bronze medal winner Actually, I am very pleased, and very happy about the event. Considering this is my first time in the series, a bronze can be a very encouraging result. How better could it be?   For myself, I think I am getting more confident, learning the experience of making adjustment in different situation. The wind did fool me for some time, a bit tricky.     Mixed Team Recurve Final   Jennifer NICHOLS (USA) I feel good. The weather wasn’t helpful but it made the match exciting.   Naomi FOLKARD (GBR) The wind today definitely made games harder. You can tell some flags swung to left, others got different direction. It was difficult to your shot. I’ve played in front of home crowds before, they are simply amazing, but not as big like this. It brings both pressure and encouragements to your game.   When you look back at the game, there are always some moments you would say: I could have done this, and that, but overall, I think it’s a good game.   Katharina DZIACKO/ Xingxing HUANG World Archery Communication
