Myanmar, China and France lead in Bangkok Bangkok – 18 February 2011   Asians are in the lead at the first Asian Grand Prix in Bangkok despite strong European presence.    Recurve Men Romain GIROUILLE is the winner of the qualification round with 671 points. His team mate Jean Charles VALLADONT is 2nd with 664. The third one is HAN Woo Tack from Korea with 662. The French team who set a new French record with 1996 points leads the team event as well ahead of Korea and Russia.    Three Olympic medallists are in 19th, 20th and 21st position. In 19th is Sebastien FLUTE (FRA) and in 20th Hiroshi YAMAMOTO (JPN) and 21st Bair BADENOV.   Both the French and Russian teams came to Asia to start early the preparation for Torino and it seems that both of them are already in excellent shape. France led qualifications.   In Mixed Team Recurve, China leads Japan and France.   Recurve Women The recurve women’s competition is led by China both in the Individual and Team competition. In individual it is LU Siyi from China who is still a junior and finished 2nd with the junior’s team at the World Archery Youth Championships in Ogden in 2009. She shot a super score of 660 in tricky windy conditions.   Second placed Ren HAYAKAWA is the younger of the Hayakawa sisters and finished 2nd in the Mixed team in Shenzhen World University Championships last year. She is 6 points behind the lead with 654 points. At 3rd place is Inna STEPANOVA from Russia with 636 points just one point in front of her team-mate Natalya ERDYNYEVA.   In the team rankings the Chinese team is first with 1906 points followed by the Russians with 1889 points and the Japanese.   Compound Men The compound ranking is led by Nguyen Tien CUONG from Vietnam with 684 points. He won this event in 2009. In 2nd place is Para-Archery world record holder Philippe HORNER from Switzerland with 682 points. He shot the highest 36 arrows score with 348 points. He is followed by Swe Ye MIN from Myanmar who has one less 10.   The men’s compound teams are led by Myanmar with 2011 points. Second is Vietnam and 3rd is Thailand.   Compound Women NGEAIN Aung from Myanmar leads the Compound Women’s event with 679 points . The home nation’s representative, Tinbua NARISARA, is 2nd with 660 points and in 3rd position is Kimberly NG YUQING from Singapore with 658   In the team event the team from Myanmar is ahead of Thailand and Vietnam.   All Qualifications Results and Match Charts    World Archery Communication
