Flash Quotes Porec World Cup Day 3

Recurve Women   Pia Carmen LIONETTI (ITA)   It is a great day again in Porec for me. I feel well here because it is a city close to the sea, like where I live in Italy. It makes me feel relaxed. After my 3rd place in 2006 and 2nd place in 2009, I am glad to be back in the final of this World Cup Stage on Saturday. Of course, there was a lot of pressure during the shoot-off in the semi-final against my Korean opponent. But I thought, "who never takes risks, will never be rewarded. Just shoot your best." (Redaction note: she was rewarded with a perfect arrow close to the bull’s eye during the shoot-off).   JUNG Dasomi (KOR)   This is the first time that I participate in an international competition. I am at the same time delighted to be here, but also a bit nervous. During qualifications, this bit of tension actually helped me to focus. I think I shot well and, of course, it was quite amazing to end with this "Robin Hood". Now I keep the two arrows in my room. They are still stuck into one another.   Today, the pressure probably got to me a bit as the competition went on. I still need to gain experience. On one side I have the feeling that my performance is good enough for this time, but on the other side I should prepare more for the next competition.   Compound Men   Sam KYRITSOGLOU (BEL)   It is true that I was a surprising winner last year and we will see if I will surprise myself again this time. I will certainly do my best, despite that the conditions changed completely from last year. We shot matches with the Set System at 70 metres, like recurve archers still do nowadays. In compound this season we will shoot 15 arrows with cumulative scoring at 50 metres. With the Set System, the match could be done very fast. With 15 arrows, it will be longer. There may be room for ups and downs during one match. This is still very early in the season. It is hard to predict how we will perform during the matches.   Benoît BINON – head coach of the French compound team   The teams shot well this morning. Especially on the women side, where we were ahead of the Americans with only three ends to go. We made a couple of mistakes at the end and the US team took the first place and the world record. Nevertheless, we are very happy with the way we measured up with them. This first stage of the World Cup definitely helps us to know where we stand on the performance scale, especially with this new format of competition.   Shooting at 50 metres with little wind like this morning is a bit like shooting indoor. So we could train this winter at 50 metres in indoor halls and this seems to have helped us to get ready for the outdoor season. We had a few national training-camps and then each archer fine-tuned his preparations in his home club.   World Archery Communication
