World Archery Indoor season goes to Singapore, Nimes and Las Vegas


  Albina LOGINOVA (RUS): Double outdoor world champion and winner of the Indoor Challenge 2011 The Indoor Archery World Cup will bring together elite archers from all around the world and will showcase the best indoor archers that the world has to offer. This is an open competition and any archer is welcome to register. It is a great opportunity to compete with top archers from around the world.   Archers who wish to qualify for the Indoor World Cup Final must compete at least in two of the three stages, including the Las Vegas tournament. Each stage will feature recurve men, recurve women, compound men and compound women events. Competitors who rank in the top 16 positions in each stage will earn points counting for the Indoor World Cup Ranking. With the addition of the tournament in Singapore this series truly deserved the appellation Indoor Archery World Cup as of the 2011-2012 season.   First in Singapore   The inaugural event in Singapore on 10-11 December is an open competition in which anyone can take part. It will be held in the famous Marine Bay Sands Hotel and Casino, in downtown Singapore.   The four champions from the 2011 World Cup Indoor Challenge, Michele FRANGILLI (ITA/recurve men), Louise Klinge LAURSEN (DEN/recurve women), Reo WILDE (USA/compound men) and Albina LOGINOVA (RUS/compound women) will all be present in Singapore for the first stage.   The other favourites are Thomas AUBERT (FRA), the Youth Olympic bronze medallist Mohamed Jaffar ABDUD DAYYAN and Toh Jin PANG (SIN) in Recurve Men, Vanessa Tze Rong LOH (SIN) and Youth Olympic silver medallist TAN Ya Ting and LIN Shih Chia (TPE) in Recurve Women, Majid AHMADI (IRI) in Compound Men and Sandrine VANDIONANT-FRANGILLI (FRA) in Compound Women.   In total, around 120 archers from an impressive number of countries (18!) will be present at the first edition of this tournament in Singapore.   Follow our coverage of the Indoor Archery World Cup Stage 1 in Singapore this week.    Nimes European Tournament goes global   Nimes, who started the concept of an Indoor Archery World Cup with Las Vegas, will host Stage 2 from 20-22 January. The French city will welcome the 15th edition of the European Indoor Tournament that will be part of the Indoor World Cup.   The 2011 edition gathered 1,100 archers from 30 countries, more than 3,000 visitors, 200 volunteers and professionals and 62 commercial sponsors. As usual the Tournament of Nimes promises to be an exceptional event with the participation of several famous champions of the past and the present.   Three for one in Las Vegas   The final stage of the Indoor World Cup 2011-12 will be held in conjunction with the Las Vegas World Archery Festival from 10-12 February. Before that, the World Archery Indoor Championships will be held from 5-9 February (info about it on our world championships section).   The Festival is held annually and has been a traditional archery tournament and trade show for many years. The competition gathers more than one thousand archers and will move to a new venue: the South Point Hotel and Casino, one of the newest casinos in Las Vegas! The first two days of the event will count as the third Indoor World Cup Stage.
