Indoor Archery World Cup Started


  Recurve Men The winner of last year Indoor World Cup challenge (predecessor of the World Cup), Michele FRANGILLI (ITA), took the first place in qualifications with 590 points. FRANGILLI won more than 25 world medals in his career and he is yet up to another challenge – the Indoor World Cup. World team outdoor silver medallist in 2009, Thomas AUBERT (FRA) earned the 2nd place with 576 points. Tan Si LIE (SIN) was 3rd ahead of LU Wei Chun (TPE) and HEWA K. I. from Sri Lanka. Dean ALBERGA (NED) was 12th and Youth Olympic medallist ABDUD DAYYAN (SIN) 25th.   The No. 1 and 2 seeds, FRANGILLI and AUBERT, easily qualified for the quarterfinals. There were three Chinese Taipei duals in the 1/8 elimination round. The No. 11 LIN Yu Chen upset CHEN Hsian Hsuan 7 set points to 3, while the no. 13 CHEN Hsin Fu beated LU Wei Chun 6-4. In the third match, the No. 7 CHANG Wei Hsiang beat the No. 10 LOU Wei Min, 6-4. Finally the run of ALBERGA was stopped by the No. 5 seed HEWA K. I. (SRI).   Recurve Women The Chinese Taipei team came in force and swept the top four places in qualifications. LIN Shih Chia had 575 points, YU Wen Yi 573, TAN Ya Ting 572 and WU Chia Hung 569. Svetlana ROUDEVA (FRA) was 5th with 561 points. Other notable: Louise LAURSEN (DEN) was 7th, Vanesaa LOH (SIN) 8th and Nathalie DIELEN (SUI), 9th.   In the most interesting match of the 1/8 eliminations DIELEN beat the youth Olympian from Singapore LOH, 6-4. DIELEN won the decisive set 27-26. Another Singaporean, the No. 11 seed, KHANG, upset the No. 6 DANAILOVA (BUL), 6-2. All the other higher seeds prevailed.   Compound Men The star of the tournament, Reo WILDE (USA) scored 594 points to dominate the qualifications. Representatives from five different countries followed him: Lyndon MAY (AUS) took the 2nd place with 571 points, Kwong KOK (SIN) had 570, Rosendo SOMBRION, 565 and S. M. TAMBRCHI (IRI) and Ganesan VENGADASALAM (MAS) scored 564.   The seeds 1-8 went through to the quarterfinals. In a Singaporean dual, WYMER HO gave a good fight to KOK FONG Kwong but lost 6-4 in the 1/8 eliminations.   Compound Women The favourite Sandrine VANDIONANT-FRANGILLI (FRA) took the first place with 571 points ahead of two Singaporeans, Contessa LOH and Alexiel GOH.   Compound Women will start their eliminations matches tomorrow in the quarterfinals.   Stay tune for tomorrow’s action.   World Archery Communication
