Athlete of the Week: Berengere SCHUH (FRA)

At the 2012 Olympic Games    Berengere SCHUH achieved her first major international victory in Nimes ten years ago, at the World Indoor Championships. At only 19, it was the first of many indoor and outdoor successes for the French archer.   Ten years later, Berengere SCHUH’s accomplishments include a title of world indoor team champion (2007), European individual (2008) and team (2012) champion, a bronze medal from the World Cup Final (2011), as well as an Olympic team bronze medal from Beijing 2008.   One of the world’s best indoor archers over the last decade, Berengere SCHUH is also among the world’s top 10 outdoor archers, having ranked as high as number 4 of the outdoor World Ranking in 2010.   After placing second at the first stage of the Indoor World Cup 2012-2013 in Singapore last December, Berengere SCHUH is set to compete in the Nimes Tournament, counting as the second stage of the Indoor World Cup, later this week – where she will attempt to achieve a fourth victory. A good result would help her in the race to the 2013 Indoor World Cup Final.   A three-time Olympian, the 28-year-old French archer will carry the hopes of the host country when the Indoor World Championships come to Nimes again in 2014.   Visit Berengere SCHUH’s official Facebook page for a beautiful photo gallery and newspaper articles about her performances over the years.   Biography Extract:   Berengere SCHUH (FRA) – Born 13 June 1984   8th Individual Olympic Games – London 2012 1st Team European Championships – Amsterdam 2012 3rd Individual World Cup Final – Istanbul 2011 2nd Individual World Cup stage 4 – Shanghai 2011 3rd Individual World Cup stage 1 – Porec 2010 2nd Individual World Cup stage 4 – Shanghai  2009 3rd Individual World Indoor Championships – Rzeszow 2009 3rd Team Olympic Games – Beijing 2008 1st Individual European Championships – Vittel   2008 3rd Individual World Cup stage 1 – Santo Domingo 2008 1st Team World Indoor Championships – Izmir 2007 2nd Individual World Indoor Championships – Izmir 2007 1st Individual European Indoor Championships – Jaen 2006 4th Team Olympic Games - Athens 2004 1st Individual World Indoor Championships – Nimes   2003
