14 to watch at Antalya: seven compounds in with a chance

Read this morning’s article on the seven recurve archers you should be watching in Antalya.

1) Daniel MUNOZ (COL): Our favourite surprise in Medellin, MUNOZ got the silver medal after meeting his own expectations by making just the second round. He’s earned success, but whether he’s got what it takes to maintain it remains to be seen.

2) CHOI Bomin (KOR): The former recurve team world champion won Shanghai, after Sara LOPEZ missed three times in the gold medal match. She was upset, and keen for another shot at a final against an opponent shooting their best.

3) Peter ELZINGA (NED): Won his first World Cup stage after an eight year wait in Medellin. Big challenge overcome.

4) Toja CERNE (SLO): Medellin silver medallist, another top 16 or eight finish would likely guarantee her a Lausanne place – and a good seed there, too.

5) Anastasia ANASTASIO (ITA): Shot for bronze back at her second ever World Cup appearance in Antalya in 2007. Was strong in Medellin before losing in last eight.

6) Martin DAMSBO (DEN): Reigning World Cup Final champ DAMSBO won in Antalya last year. He’s been off the boil in 2014, and will need a big finish here again to be in with a shot at making Lausanne and defending his title.

7) Rodger WILLETT JR (USA): The dark horse of the dominant States team. Shoots unbelievably well in head-to-head matches (he knocked out two favourites in Medellin).
