Stage Set: Indoor Archery World Cup Final Rosters Complete

After the second day of The Vegas Shoot, which doubles up as the fourth and last stage of the Indoor Archery World Cup, the ranking points for the circuit are totalled and the top 16 in each category issued invitations to the Indoor Archery World Cup Final.

The Final runs this evening in Las Vegas live on Archery TV. Here’s who will be shooting for this season’s indoor honours…

Recurve men

Top seeds: Brady ELLISON (USA), OH Jin Hyek (KOR) and MIN Byeong Yeon (KOR). More clashes between Brady and the Korean: he was the only archer not from Korea in the Nimes final four.

Outside pick: Italy’s Matteo FISSORE. The indoor specialist – and former physical trainer of the Italian national team – deserves a podium at this level soon.

Storyline: Same as it’s been all season… how much ground archers will give to the Korean men in their first international indoor season. So far, it’s been quite a bit.

Favourite: MIN Byeong Yeon. He was so awesome – nine straight 10s – in his victory over Olympic Champion OH in the Nimes gold medal match.

Recurve women

Top seeds: KIM Min Jung (KOR), Berengere SCHUH (FRA) and Khatuna LORIG (USA). Not the Korean dominance we have come to expect.

Outside pick: It’s impossible to choose anyone else: Mexican Olympic silver medallist Aida ROMAN. Seeded 11th, she’s the reigning World Champion at indoor archery.

Storyline: Last season, the Koreans were seeded top four and dominant. This time around they’ve got an uphill battle.

Favourite: Berengere SCHUH. A world champion indoors over a decade ago, she’s rounding back into the form that made her fantastic both indoors and out before a surgery she took some time to recover from.

Compound men

Top seeds: Mike SCHLOESSER (NED), Peter ELZINGA (NED) and Braden GELLENTHIEN (USA). Mr Perfect Mike is the undisputed top seed – but he lost a stage last season in Telford to his teammate Peter. It would be a fantastic gold final.

Outside pick: Chance BEAUBOUEF, seeded seventh, is a three-time Vegas shoot winner. The States man is in ELZINGA’s side of the draw.

Storyline: Nine US archers, seven from Europe. Advantage in qualification: States. Advantage in matchplay: ?

Favourite: Mike SCHLOESSER. He shot a world-first perfect 600 less than two weeks ago (and a 600 59X in Vegas over the past two days – the equivalent of a 599).

Compound women

Top seeds: Crystal GAUVIN (USA), Sarah PRIEELS (BEL) and Erika JONES (USA). Two States athletes, but the huge performance from Sarah in Vegas (second place) forced the top-three Belgian sandwich.

Outside pick: Slovenia’s Toja CERNE. Yes, she’s world field champion – but more important was her performance in the third stage of the Indoor World Cup in Nimes. She qualified okay, but knocked out a bunch of higher seeds on her path to the bronze medal match.

Storyline: Four of the top six seeds are from the States – so they’re spread across the bracket. It means there’s the potential for an all-US final four.

Favourite: Crystal GUAVIN. The top seed might be a safe pick, but so is Crystal.
