Ask an Archer: Crystal Gauvin Answers Your Questions!
She’s a World Cup gold medalist. The number two ranked female compound archer in the United States. A World Championships medalist.
And she’s been shooting for less than two years.
Team USA’s Crystal Gauvin has become an archery superstar in record time. This Friday, she’ll be online to answer your questions. Crystal will be the first athlete featured on Archery 360’s “Ask an Archer” series of Facebook chats.
A competitive athlete since her high school years, Gauvin excelled in swimming and cycling before she decided to take up archery, buying her first target bow in December of 2012.
She first tried her hand at recurve, but found that the compound bow held more appeal. After finding success at local and state events, she got motivated to compete nationally and internationally, but quickly learned that her full time job cramped her archery style.
So in August of 2013, she quit her job.

Crystal decided to give herself a year to succeed as a professional archer. The degreed senior economist took a break from her career, hopped a plane to Morocco for her first Indoor World Cup, and never looked back.
In the year and a half since, she’s earned a number one world ranking for the 2015 indoor archery season, a placement on the U.S. World Cup team, and three World Cup gold medals – in addition to numerous top national placements.
What’s her secret?
For starters, Crystal is a firm believer in motivation. Her Facebook fan page is full of inspirational posts and encouragement for other athletes to write their own success stories.
She’s also a big believer in an equal playing field, noting on her blog that she hopes to “bring the women’s playing field in line with the men. I dream of the day compound is accepted into the Olympics.”
Her frequent blog posts give fans a window into her failures and successes, and Crystal encourages fans to contact her with questions or suggestions.
This Friday, April 3, you’ll have the opportunity to ask Crystal all of your archery questions; she’ll be chatting live on Facebook with Archery 360 from 4-7 p.m. Eastern time.
Whatever your archery questions, bring them: Crystal Gauvin will be on hand to help you find the archery information you need!
