Korean Archery Association Vice President passes away

He died of lung cancer at the age of 63.

Secretary General from the Olympics in 1984 until 2004, Hwang Doha coordinated an international team that won a minimum of two gold medals at six different editions of the Games. He became Vice President of the Association in 2005.

He was recently in Rio supporting the Korean athletes that collected all four gold medals.

A federation spokesperson said Hwang Doha played a “significant role in archery’s development” in Korea, specifically in areas of administration and the coordination between Hyundai and the association office.

“World Archery is very sad to learn of the passing of Mr Hwang, especially so soon after his dream of winning all the available Olympic medals was recently realised in Rio,” said World Archery Secretary General Tom Dielen.

On behalf of the World Archery Executive Board and World Archery Family, World Archery extends its condolences to the Korean Archery Association, the Korean Archery Family and the family of Hwang Doha.
