Korea sweeps top recurve junior seeds in Rosario

Korean recurve junior archers Heo Jaewoo (665) and Kim Kyoungeun (661) led the recurve men’s and women’s categories over the 72-arrow 70-metre ranking round at the 2017 World Archery Youth Championships in Rosario, Argentina.

“I kept my normal routine while shooting but the score isn’t as good as I wanted,” said leading man Heo. “We prepared hard for this event and we worked a lot on our mind control.”

Heo, Jeong Taeyeong (664) and fifth-ranked Han Jaeyeop (661) combined for 1990 points to take pole in the recurve junior men’s team event, too.

“As a team we shoot well together, we feel strong and we think we can get a good outcome here in Rosario,” said Heo.

Chilean Olympian Ricardo Soto was third in the junior men’s list on 662 points.

Reigning world student champion Kim Kyoungeun was eight points clear at the top of recurve junior women’s qualifying, ahead of Turkey’s Yasemin Anagoz (653) and Kuo Ting-An (650) of Chinese Taipei.

Kim, Jo Areum (648) and Park Somin (631) were the top junior women’s team, and Kim and Heo seeded first as a mixed pair.

The 2017 World Archery Youth Championships run 2 to 10 October in Rosario, Argentina.
