Kim Woojin wins Longines Prize for Precision at Medellin stage

Korea’s Kim Woojin was awarded the Longines Prize for Precision for recurve men at the first stage of the 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Medellin, Colombia, after recording a 10-rate of 69%.

The stage awards in 2019 are being awarded on the percentage of 10s shot during the individual competition, ranking and matchplay, to remove bias from the set system. The season-long awards will still be awarded based on the total of 10s shot over the course of the Hyundai Archery World Cup season.

Woojin finished third in the recurve men’s competition in Medellin, losing to teammate Lee Woo Seok in the semifinals but beating Sjef van den Berg in the bronze medal match. He shot 132 arrows over the course of the tournament, putting 91 of them in the 10-ring.

Individual gold medallist Brady Ellison finished second in the Prize for Precision rankings at the stage, shooting 93 of his 141 arrows in the middle for a 10-rate of 66%.

The Prize for Precision will be awarded to the recurve woman who shoots the highest percentage of 10s at stage two of the 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Shanghai, China.

This year’s season-long awards are open to the compound men and compound women categories.

The Longines Prize for Precision was launched in 2010 to reward the most accurate archers each year of the Hyundai Archery World Cup.
