Judge committee chair Morten Wilmann dies aged 68

World Archery judge committee chair Morten Wilmann died on Wednesday 15 May 2019 aged 68 after a long battle with illness. Morten was deeply involved in archery’s governance internationally and in Norway.
He joined World Archery’s judge committee in 1991 and became chair in 2007, as well as serving on the target committee from 1993 to 2001 (as chair 1997-2001).
Wilmann, who was an international judge for 27 years until 2016, was chair of the technical official commission at the Olympic Games in 2008 and Paralympic Games in 2012.
The secretary general of the Norwegian Archery Association from 1979 to 2018, he received a World Archery silver plaquette for services to the sport in 2009.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of Morten’s passing,” said World Archery president Prof Dr Ugur Erdener. “He was a true friend of archery and mine. My deepest condolences go to his wife Xiuzhi, his family and the Norwegian archery community.”
