KWAK leads youth archery athletes at YOG

The 2009 team world champion and individual World Cup Final winner KWAK Ye-Ji (KOR) photo leads the youth archery participants in Singapore. Unfortunate injury for Brunna ARAUJO (BRA) who will not be able to compete.   With ARAUJO’s withdrawal coming after the deadline for entries, there will be 32 boys and 31 girls participating (maximum of one male athlete and one female athlete per country) in the archery competition from 18-21 August. A ranking round at 70m will take place on the first day. The second day will feature an innovative mixed gender/mixed country team competition regrouping the top 31 archers of each division. On day 3 and 4, the individual events for boys and girls will take place.   Recurve Boys The recurve boys competition will be wide open. Some athletes have already competed at the elite level such as Atanu DAS (IND), Rick VAN DER OEVER (NED) and Jafert FARJAT (MEX). All the top archery countries will be represented, for instance with PARK Min Beom (KOR), LUO Siyue (CHN), Julien ROSSIGNOL (FRA), Tsukushi KOIWA (JPN), Bolot TSYBZHITOV (RUS), Vitaliy KOMONYUK (UKR) and Jia Hao ZHU (USA). Singapore will be represented with Abdud Dayyan MOHD JAFFAR. Italy was able to replace before the deadline Luca MANCIONE by Lorenzo PIANESI due to sickness. Unfortunately, the last recurve boy in the ranking round will not be able to compete in the mixed team competition.   Recurve Girls The recurve girls category will display some true elite archers. On top of KWAK (team world champion, individual silver medallist at the world championships, winner of the 2009 World Cup Final and winner of the 2009 Antalya World Cup stage), the participants feature Mariana AVITIA (MEX) who finished 8th at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The recent youth field world champion Zoe GOBBELS (BEL) will be in Singapore as well as the regular World Cup archer Tatiana SEGINA (RUS). The Russian won gold in Cadet at the 2008 Youth World Archery Championships, while Lidiia SICHENIKOVA (UKR) was 3rd. Finally we will mention Maud CUSTERS (NED), Miranda LEEK (USA), Gloria FILIPPI (ITA) ,Seema VERMA (IND), Jia SONG (CHN) Alice INGLEY (AUS) and Vanessa Tze Rong LOH (SIN).   The archery ranking round will be played on 18 August at the Kallang Field.   Didier MIEVILLE World Archery Communication
