Korea's women archers aiming to complete golden double in individual event

World No. 2 and ranking round No. 1 KI Bo Bae (KOR)    Korea's women will be aiming to add a second gold to their team triumph when the individual archery event comes to a conclusion at Lord's Cricket Ground on Thursday.   Pia LIONETTI (ITA) has improved on her team performance by beating Karen HULTZER (RSA) and, surprisingly, Miranda LEEK (USA). She faces No 3 seed TAN Ya-Ting (TPE).   Miki KANIE (JPN), who dominated her first two rounds and is also boosted by a team bronze medal, takes on Aida ROMAN (MEX).   Carina CHRISTIANSEN (DEN) has hit form and says she used the energy of the crowd in her 7-3 victory over Elisa BARNARD (AUS) and 6-4 triumph against LE Chien-Ying (TPE). She meets Mariana AVITIA (MEX).   Olympic team gold medallist LEE Sung Jin (KOR) has been untroubled so far but will be tested by Bishindee URANTUNGALAG (MGL), who has knocked out experienced pair Jennifer NICHOLS (USA) and Alison WILLIAMSON (GBR).   Ika Yuliana ROCHMAWATI (INA) is a surprise addition to the 1/8 elimination round. She was helped by Amy OLIVER's (GBR) shock win over world No. 1 Deepika KUMARI (IND), leaving ROCHMAWATI free to beat OLIVER 7-1. ROCHMAWATI faces No. 9 seed, Ksenia PEROVA (RUS).   Berengere SCHUH (FRA) has reason to feel optimistic as she goes up against an off-form and erratic CHOI Hyeonju (KOR).   Khatuna LORIG (USA), at her fifth Olympic Games, is hoping experience will help her defeat world No. 6 CHENG Ming (CHN).   After defeating Christine BJERENDAL (SWE) 6-4 and Inna STEPANOVA (RUS) 7-3, Ren HAYAKAWA (JPN) now has her most challenging match against world No. 2 and ranking round No. 1 KI Bo Bae (KOR), who won a gold medal in the team event.   Source: ONS Edited by World Archery Communication
