Among the Chinese medallists, CHENG Changjie and the women's team won gold medals, FU Hongzhi, GAO Fangxia and the men's team claimed silver medals and CHEN Yegang and XIAO Yanhong won bronze.

Korea won only three medals, with LEE Hwa–sook and the men's team winning a gold medal each and the women's team winning a silver medal.

Here is a closer look at how the archery competition at the Beijing Games unfolded:

Recurve Men's Individual – W1/W2 China's CHENG Changjie added to his country's medal tally by winning the gold medal in the men's individual recurve – W1/W2 category, beating Marco VITALE (ITA) 108-104. The bronze medal was closely fought, with TSENG Lung–hui of Chinese Taipei finally beating Ozgur OZEN (TUR) in a shootout, after both archers were tied at 92 points after four ends. Recurve Men's Individual – Standing Mongolia's Baatarjav DAMBADONDOG made history by becoming the first person from Mongolia to win a medal at the Paralympic Games, beating Fabrice MEUNIER of France, 94-90. To the delight of most spectators, China's CHEN Yegang won the bronze medal, beating top seed Mario ESPOSITO (ITA) 98-93. Recurve Women's Individual – W1/W2 Paralympic debutant Gizem GIRISMEN (TUR) beat China's FU Hongzhi 91-85 to win Turkey's first ever Paralympic gold medal in archery. China's XIAO Yanhong beat Nakanishi AYA of Japan 98-84 to claim the bronze medal. Recurve Women's Individual – Standing LEE Hwa–sook (KOR) claimed the gold medal after beating GAO Fangxia of China 103-92. Lindsey CARMICHAEL (USA) won the bronze medal, beating her Polish opponent Malgorzata OLEJNIK 105-101. Compound Men's Individual – W1 Czech Republic's David DRAHONINSKY won the gold medal, outplaying the defending Paralympic Games champion John CAVANAGH (GBR) 108-103. Jeff FABRY (USA) won the bronze medal after beating Osmo KINNUNEN (FIN) 111-101. Compound Men's Individual – Open Top seed and world record holder John STUBBS (GBR) lived up to his favourite billing by winning the gold medal. Stubbs beat Alberto SIMONELLI (ITA) 116-111 to win gold. Philippe HORNER (SUI) clinched the bronze medal by outshooting his opponent TJ PEMBERTON (USA) 115-111. Compound Women's Individual – Open Top seed and world record holder Danielle BROWN (GBR) lived up to her reputation by winning the gold medal in what was a one– sided final against Japan's Kamiya CHIEKO. Great Britain's Mel CLARKE walked away with the bronze medal after beating her Turkish opponent Gulbin SU 113-109. Recurve Men's Team – Open Korea won the gold medal in the men's team recurve – open category, beating China 209-206. Italy won the bronze medal, beating Japan 207-194. Recurve Women's Team – Open China left the best for last, winning the gold medal and breaking the world record in the women's team recurve – open category. The Chinese archers out distanced Korea from the start, hitting the dead centre on five occasions (getting 10 points each time). China won 205-177.
