Five new countries qualify for the Olympic Games

The Olympic Continental Qualifying Tournament for Europe took place on 25 May in Amsterdam (Netherlands). Five more countries will be represented at the London Games.
Archers competed in the Continental Qualifying Tournament for Europe in Amsterdam on 25 May. The final standings of the individual competition in this event was used to allocate 3 quota places per gender, with a maximum of 1 place allocated per gender and per NOC.

Archers from five new countries won quota places for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Netherlands, Israel and Moldova on the men’s side as well as Germany, Spain and Sweden on the women’s side obtained one individual place for the Olympic Games. The places, who belong to the NOCs and not the individual, were obtained in the Continental Olympic Qualifier by Guy MATZKIN (ISR), Youth Olympic medallist Rick VAN DEN OEVER (NED), Dan OLARU (MDA), Iria GRANDAL (ESP), field world champion Christine BJERENDAL (SWE) and Elena RICHTER (GER). Spain was the only country that had already obtained a place (on the men’s side at the 2011 World Championships).
