Guadalajara looks forward to a record-breaking Pan American Championships Lausanne – 25 August 2010   A record-breaking participation is anticipated at the Pan American Championships to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico on 15-21 October 2010. Eighteen countries and 243 archers have registered as of 15 August, the deadline for preliminary registration.    This will be the first time so many countries and archers will compete at these traditional championships which were first held in 1972. The 2010 edition of the Pan American Championships will be the third time in which Mexico will be the host country for this event. They also organised the 1972 and 1996 championships.     This year the Pan American Championships will also be the first qualifier for the Pan American Games to be held in 2011 in the same venue. Twenty-eight recurve men and 28 recurve women will qualify for the Pan American Games in Guadalajara—the top eight teams (three archers each) plus the best four individual archers not belonging to the top teams. A second qualification tournament will be held at the beginning of 2011 to select the remaining eight archers (four men and four women) who will compete in the 2011 Games.   Sergio FONT World Archery Communication
