ELLISON: “I want to go back on the beach”!

Brady ELLISON (USA): “I want to go back on the beach”! Antalya – 4 June 2009   Young and talented, Brady ELLISON (USA) is one the archers to watch for the years to come. Last year he made the final on the beaches of Antalya. He surely would like to repeat it this year.   What do you remember from last year’s final? It was my first big match at international level against such an archer like IM Dong-Hyun (KOR). I over thought a little bit. I second-guessed the wind a bit too much. But it was a lot of fun I surely want to go back on the beach this year.   I actually think I am shooting better now and I made it to the bronze medal match at the Porec World Cup recently. It was a super final field there as well. On such field, you have to adapt. In Porec we came in the morning with my coach to watch the team finals. We realized that we should not watch so much the flags on the targets or the windsocks, but the flags on the boats that were nearby the venue. That’s what it takes. You have to adapt to these field but these finals are really cool and I would like to do it every day!   What is the influence of your coach? He taught me pretty much everything I know about recurve archery. Coach LEE is really amazing. He is someone you can trust and he protects his athletes. He knows so much about archery. His way of teaching is so efficient. He teaches you some very small changes that actually make you shoot so much better! His archers won so many Olympic gold medals!   What is you long-term goal? I want to win a medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games!   And what is the plan to get it? To participate in as many international events as possible until then. I participated in my first World Cup stage in Ulsan in 2007 and that opened my eyes on the level of international archery. To be a top archer in the USA is good, but it’s another step to be on top at the international level. Before the Games in Beijing, I had shot only four or five international tournaments. So until London, we want to get as much international experience as possible.   So good luck for this one in Antalya!   Read more of Brady ELLISON’s interview in the next Target magazine   Didier MIEVILLE FITA Communication
