Qualifications for the Kaoshiung 2009 World Games are over!

World Games Quota Places Lausanne – 5 September 2008   Here is the list of countries that have obtained quota places for the World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei:  World Games Quota Places We ask all Member Associations concerned to inform us by 31 December 2008 if it is their intention to accept these places. It is mandatory for all Member Associations to confirm the places by this date.   A final confirmation will be asked by 1 May 2009 as well as an initial name for the athletes who will take the place.    Changes will be possible in name after this date but since we do not know the exact details of the accreditation system we will only be able to give you full details when the accreditation system will be available. However after 1 May 2009, if a country refuses a place a penalty will apply.   We also ask all Member Associations that have quota places to inform us by 31 December 2008 if they plan to bring officials and the number of officials they plan to bring. Officials are at the cost of the countries concerned and there is no guarantee that there is enough accreditations and accommodation available for all officials. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis if we cannot find additional places.   For countries that have not obtained quota places, they can ask an invitation place for a specific athlete as is the case for the Olympics. These requests should arrive at FITA before 31 December 2008 explaining which category they ask an invitation place for, the athlete’s name and detailed information on his/her results. Invitation places can only be asked by countries that do not have yet a quota place in the category concerned (e.g. if country X has a place for compound women, country X can still ask for a place for compound men, but cannot ask for a second place in compound women).      The FITA Field Committee will propose a list of possible quota places based on these applications and the FITA Executive Committee will allocate these places in cooperation with the IWGA.   Important dates in summary   31 December 2008 - Deadlines for: Ø      Initial acceptance of places Ø      Invitation places Ø      Number of officials   1 May 2009 - Deadline for: Ø      Final confirmation of places Ø      Nominative entry of athletes (subject to limited changes)   To be determined: accreditation deadlines   FITA Communication
