Quotes after the eliminations

Recurve Men   Jean-Charles VALLADONT (FRA) I started the day by winning the first elimination course and then the second one! In the semifinal, I began very badly with 4-4-3, but then I shot two times 17 out of 18. Finally I won the match and my first thought was that I am assured to win a medal.   Of course, after Aurelien’s match I was disappointed that I would not shoot the gold final against him. However, they would have been one winner and one loser. I hope he wins the bronze medal match so that we are both on the podium.   Aurélien RABANET (FRA) I had a difficult start in my semifinal and then it was too difficult to come back in the scoring. In the second target, my opponent did give me an opening but I was unable to take it. I remain ambitious for the bronze medal match; even if I am disappointed that I won’t play for gold. At the start of the competition I thought I did not really have the form to reach the podium, but once I reached the semifinal that was of course my goal.   Recurve Junior Women   Marion VIVES (FRA) “It is not over, until the fat lady sings”. Today it was true. I tried my best at every stage of the competition. First I simply wanted to be in the top 8. Then I just wanted to be in the semifinal to have a chance for a medal. Now I am shooting for gold on Sunday! I will keep giving it all until the last arrow so that I won’t regret anything.   Recurve Women   Carole FERRIOU (FRA) – three times individual world champion and World Games winner I am having a blast living these world championships from “outside”. I think it is going really well, with serenity and a good dynamic. The courses are very nice and both the athletes and the spectators enjoy the competition.   The French athletes have shot very well during the qualifications and many of them have done personal best. However, as of the quarterfinals, one can notice that the qualification scores don’t really matter anymore. It is about the experience and how these athletes can perform over a few targets.   I am really optimistic for the French team this week-end. I hope we can win many medals. We are “at home”!   Compound Women   Ivana BUDEN (CRO) I am very happy with the way I shot today. I wanted to come here this week, do well and have a chance for a medal. Now I will shoot for gold!   FFTA & World Archery Communication
