VAN CASPEL and SUNG will defend their title!

All the individual categories shot their quarterfinals and semifinals on Friday morning. The recurve archers shot their matches in the Set System (5 sets of 3 arrows). Each set is worth 2 points and the first archer to score 6 set points wins the match. In case of a tied match (5-5), a one-arrow shoot-off closest to centre is shot.   Compound archers shot their matches with cumulative scoring (5 ends of 3 arrows).   Here is the road to the individual finals!   Recurve Junior Men The 2006 cadet world champion and 2008 junior team world champion, Ryan TYACK (AUS), made it to the junior gold individual final this time. He beat Gael PREVOST (FRA), senior silver team medallist last month in Turin, in an intense quarterfinal. TYACK took the first set 29-28, then both archers tied the second and third set (28 and 29 each). PREVOST managed to tie the match at 4 set points each when he won the fourth set 29-26. In the last set, the Frenchman scored 26. Not enough to compete with TYACK who scored 28 to win the match 6 set points to 4. The Australian then defeated LIU Yue (CHN) in the semifinal 6-2 (29-27, 26-27, 29-25, 27-25).   The other semifinal was a rematch of the 2009 junior final in Ogden!
