Quotes from the Recurve Finals

Recurve Men   KIM Woojin (KOR) – Gold medal I am very happy for this moment. Now everything is right ! I had prepared myself for a long time for this championship, working hard, and since I have been shooting very good in every match, now I am very satisfied. I am also happy that my team mate won the silver medal, it is like a double victory for us.   HO Jin Hyek (KOR) – Silver medal I am happy to have won a medal at the world championship. Of course, I would have preferred the gold one, but since my team mate KIM Woojin won it, I am not disappointed. This is a victory for us all! I have put lot of efforts on the field, I did my best to shoot at a high level and now I can relax, finally.   Brady ELLISON (USA) – Bronze medal I shot a very good arrow at the shoot off in the semifinal; I knew it was a good arrow. It was a 10, but it was not close enough to the centre. It would have been better to win the gold, but I did all my best so I am happy with the bronze. You know, you cannot always win, people make mistakes and so do I. It was awesome to be here anyway!   Recurve Women   Denisse VAN LAMOEN (CHI) – Gold medal I am really happy, this has been my dream for 18 years and now I am living my dream. While shooting I was only thinking about my job, what I had to do, about keeping my form and following what my coach was saying. I am really happy!   Kristine ESEBUA (GEO) – Silver medal The semifinal match with the Chinese FANG Yuting was more difficult for me than the gold final; I felt more relaxed having already won a medal. I tried to control myself, but I really wanted to win and I could not control my emotions. I think this is the main reason why I have not won. Still a silver medal is great, and I think I have achieved all this thanks to my coach Mr HAN “Archie”. I tried to do everything he told me. I am very happy now, but we will need to fight for the team quota for the Olympic Games next year.   FANG Yuting (CHN) – Bronze medal For me it was pretty simple. I felt relaxed and confident. I just tried to shoot at my best, step by step, without any stress. I have a small tattoo on my shin with ten different cats that symbolize 10 points. It seems like they also helped!   Recurve Men Team   Romain GIROUILLE (FRA) – Siver medal The competitions were very good, very well organized. Everything was perfect. We are happy anyway but after our 2nd place in Ulsan, we were hoping to win the gold medal this time.   Michele FRANGILLI (ITA) – Bronze medal We did not shoot well at all! It is not satisfying winning this way, but obviously we are excited, mainly because there were lots of people shouting for us! We are lucky we have shot in our country!   In these last days I felt a bit sick and I still have to recover. It is a pity to see lots of bad arrows in a world championship bronze final. We had given Mexico an easier chance to win shooting a 6 in the first set, but they gave this 'gift' back to us shooting another 6 in the last end.   Pedro VIVAS ALCALA (MEX) It is really great that we were shooting in the finals. Since it was our first time at the world championship finals, we were very nervous. It would have been even better if we would have won.   Recurve Women Team   Guendalina SARTORI (ITA) – Gold medal I have never been shaking this much! While I was shooting, I never thought about the audience and all the people around. I just thought about hitting the gold. Now I want to celebrate this achievement. First elite world championsips and first gold medal! I still do not know how!   Deepika KUMARI (IND) – Silver medal I have a lot of good feelings. We have a team silver medal and I feel proud for my country. There were so many spectators in the stadium. I felt confident during the match. The Italian team shot really well; congratulations to them.   Jung DASOMI (KOR) – Bronze medal First of all I am very happy to win the bronze medal. Of course we are upset we did not win gold. The venue is fantastic, a lot of nice views around and a lot of spectators. It is more than I could expect from the finals. It is a good experience for me.   ZHU Shanshan (CHN) We are very pleased to be here in Turin and we enjoyed very much this competition. To us the most important thing is still to improve ourselves and our team. We are still in the process of building a team for London Olympic Games. We need to get back to training.   Recurve Mixed Team   KI Bo Bae (KOR) – Gold medal This is a very nice place, we are all happy to be here and we thank the Italian federation and the organising committee, which have been really good at managing the event. I am so proud I have won the gold medal for my country.   While I was shooting I was very focus: during my practise sessions I have learned how to shoot without thinking about anything else, and that is what I did during this final. If you do not think too much, the level of stress will come down and you will shoot good arrows.   Aida ROMAN (MEX) – Silver medal This was a really impressive experience, I am happy to have won the silver medal. It is our first achievement in such an important competition. This is the first recurve mixed team silver medal ever given and we have it!   Amy OLIVER (GRB) – Bronze medal Before the match I was not feeling confident about the result. The venue is so big, it has been a very good experience. But when you are out there your shooting goes through normal routine; you are confident. We were really confident, we knew things would have gone like this. Today is my birthday and I got the bronze. It was brilliant! This a perfect birthday present for me.   Jacek PROC (POL) Something went wrong, we had tree arrows in the 7-ring. We did not take an advantage in the first end, and after that the difference in the score just kept growing. Maybe we lost the confidence that we could get the victory, and we lost with a big margin. Of course we wanted to climb on the podium, but now we are fourth. We will try to win next time.   Special Award: World Archery “Bronze Plaquette”   George TEKMITCHOV was awarded with a World Archery Bronze Plaquette from the World Archery President Prof Dr Ugur ERDENER. He has been the official speaker of FITA/World Archery for two decades! These are his impressions about it.   George TEKMITCHOV Having worked for so many years with FITA/World Archery is a great honour for me. It does not seem to me that I did this much! I was only part of this great team. In my opinion, everybody in the team deserved this plaquette as much as I do, so I would like to dedicate it to them. I will continue to do my best to help this sport grow as well as the rest of the team.   Mariya LARKINA, Dajana PICCOLO, Rebecca RABOZZI World Archery Communication
