21 April - New Nation Ranking and Prizes

New Nation Ranking and Prizes

The FITA Council decided this week to create a ranking for Member Associations.

Lausanne - April 21, 2006. The new Archery World Cup 2006 will create even more interest among the archery world. Thanks to a successful sponsoring campaign, FITA decided to create a new ranking for Member Associations during the World Cup, in order to reward their full participation. The ranking will be made taking into account all the results of the 4 qualifying tournaments (Porec, Antalya, San Salvador, Shanghai).

The points gathered by the archers of each Member Association in the 4 individual categories (men/women/recurve/compound) will be taken into account. However, since the host country of a World Cup event can enter 6 archers instead of 4, only the top 4 archers of this country will be taken into consideration for that event. FITA gives equal opportunities and as a reminder we have the top 16 archers overall in each category that gather points.

After Shanghai, the final ranking will then be made and the following prizes will be awarded:

1st rank: 15000US$
2nd rank: 10000US$
3rd rank: 8000US$
4th rank: 7000US$
5th rank: 6000US$

6th rank: 5000US$
7th rank: 4000US$
8th rank: 3000US$
9th rank: 2000US$
10th rank: 1000US$

It is possible for countries to obtain prizes if they participate only in recurve or compound, but the structure of this ranking will especially give an encouragement to the ones making the effort to come with full teams to all of the events.

FITA is committed to create an exciting World Cup for both the individual archers and the nations. This ranking will bring even more excitement to the archery top competitions in 2006!
