FITA announces and prepares 2007 Events Lausanne - 7 December 2006   The participants at Lords Cricket Ground, archery venue of 2012 London Olympics The International Archery Federation (FITA) gathered all the organizers of the 2007 key events last week for a three-day seminar in London. This was the opportunity for the organizers to receive information about the new standard for Archery events.   Exactly 30 persons met at the Lords Cricket Ground – the Archery venue of the 2012 London Olympic Games. Representatives and technical delegates of the 2007 World Cup stages and the 2007 World Championships were attending to prepare the next season.   The Calendar The Meteksan Archery World Cup 2007 will have 4 qualifying stages in:   Ø       Ulsan (KOR), April 1 – 6 Ø       Varese (ITA), April 30 – May 5 Ø       Antalya (TUR), May 28 – June 2 Ø       Dover (GBR), July 30 – August 4   The host for the World Cup Final will be decided at a later date and FITA plans to make it as spectacular as last year’s Final in the heart of the Maya pyramids in Merida (MEX).   FITA will also organize two other premier events in 2007:   Ø       Indoor World Championships, Izmir (TUR), March 13 – 17 Ø       Outdoor World Championships, Leipzig (GER), July 7 – 15 (main Olympic Qualifier)   The Seminar Over a three-day course, the standard for the organization of a true world class event and the lessons learned in the 2006 stages were transmitted to the organizers. The topics covered every aspect of event management such as: the integrated communication plan, the promotion and the ticketing, the event presentation to create an enjoyable show for the fans, the TV production requirements and the logistic components. A representative from Meteksan, FITA’s event IT services provider, explained the upcoming online entry system and the results management.   Classroom Lynne Evans, Chairwoman GNAS    The organizers commented that the seminar was “necessary for the proper management and the success of the upcoming events”. It was also the chance to exchange point of views and best practice from one country to another.   The participants had the chance to visit the Lords Cricket Ground – the Archery venue of the 2012 Olympic Games. They felt the extraordinary sports tradition of this venue and enjoyed the state of the art facilities for the media. The visit was an inspiring moment for the future organizers and the whole Archery community must be already looking forward to the 2012 Olympics.   However, let’s first focus on world class events in 2007!   FITA would like to thanks the Grand National Archery Society of Great Britain, UK Sport and WGT Sport for the warm welcome and the perfect organization of the seminar.   Didier Miéville FITA Communication Director
