World Cup Stage 3 – Quotes of the Day 4

Recurve   Ilario DI BUO (ITA)   Ilario, you look tired today. How come? It’s been an exhausting tournament for all of us. The heat and the full FITA took a lot of energy. In my opinion, we should not shoot a full FITA round at international tournaments. After all, the qualification is just for the ranking. Seventy two arrows at 70m are more than enough for the ranking round. It will also shorten the competition by a day. Full FITAs should be held at local or national tournaments.   Men’s team (FRA) This is the fourth time in a row that we are ranking fifth during the last two years. We think we will reverse our situation by working more. We will be ready for Shanghai and Ulsan.   KIM Sky (AUS) The Korean team was strong. Despite the wind, our shots were consistent but we couldn’t do anything to beat them. We are still happy for Australia.   Karina WINTER (GER)   After your victory at the world indoor championships, you didn’t shoot many international competitions: why? Last year, we have been talking with the coaches about who will go to the World Cup stages. We had no qualification tournaments for that. As a team we had decided that we would rotate the archers in order to give everyone a chance to go to the World Cups. I wanted to go to Porec but others were selected so I started my preparation for Antalya right after.   I was very happy about my shooting, I did my personal best of 1319 points and my elimination rounds were also great. I did 110 in the 1/8, which is a great score for me. I had a lot of fun shooting here.   Compound   Men’s team (FRA) For sure we are very disappointed. We have a team for the first time this year at the World Cup. Maybe we need more references to go further in this kind of competition … With one point difference at the end of the match, this is really tight.     Men’s team (NED) We have been suffering from the wind, some of us made some bad arrows; I mean you can easily shoot a nine in such conditions. Anyway, the team feels strong and we will do everything to reach the team gold medal.   Women’s team (NZL) We are very happy because it’s the first time ever for the New Zealand women’s team to compete at the World Cup. Especially to come up for the gold medal match, this is just a dream for all of us. The wind was tricky but we had a lot of fun. Now everyone will know where New Zealand is on a map!   Linda LAINCHBURY (NZL) I was quiet and calm, like shooting at home. It’s like I had my coach on each shoulder and my husband right behind me: he’s still awake at this time in New Zealand to follow my results! Now I look for the gold medal, I feel all relaxed for that. As this is my first World Cup, the support of my team has been fabulous to me.   Nicky HUNT (GBR) My results are good; I am shooting good arrows despite of the tricky wind. I just want to shoot well, and I will see what happens next. Jamie VAN NATTA’s (USA) defeat is unexpected at this time of the competition. Ivana BUDEN (CRO) is still in a very good shape, it would be great for both of us to shoot a final again!   Roberval DOS SANTOS (BRA) I had a good shooting day even if I was afraid of the wind before we started. Finally everything went fine and this field also brings me good memories of the past, because I have been here two times for a gold medal match. Today I fell against Braden GELLENTHIEN (USA), he really deserved to win.   Sebastien BRASSEUR (FRA) My first match has been a real success for me because I managed very well my shooting form. As if everything was easy to do. During my second match, there was less wind so I cut my concentration too quickly. Then I had to focus more and more and I succeeded in doing this for my last match of the day. I knew it would be tough to shoot against Dejan SITAR (SLO) but I had enough motivation to win.   Dean ALBERGA Jean-Denis GITTON FITA Communication
