ArcheryGB looking for a Development Coach Lilleshall (GBR) – 22 February 2010   Archery GB—the governing body for the sport of archery in Great Britain and Northern Ireland—is looking for a Development Coach who will manage the development of GB development/Junior archers. This position is dedicated toward driving Britain’s strategy toward international success in the short and long term.   Based at the Lilleshall National Sports Archery Centre, Nr Telford, ArcheryGB is the national governing body for the sport of archery in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The GB programme is managed by ArcheryGB through the Archery Performance Unit.    The Performance Unit has the specific objective of delivering the goals of the World Class Performance Plan culminating at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London in 2012. Additionally, its aim is to create a legacy and structure, which will enable Archery GB to deliver strong performance in the 2016 and 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Key to the achievement of these objectives will be the role of the Performance Director.   As a critical part of the continued growth, we are inviting applications for the position of GB Development Coach. The Development Coach will be responsible in conjunction with the Performance Director for the planning, organisation and delivery of a National Archery Development Programme. The primary aim of the programme is to accelerate the development of emerging talent within Archery, incorporating the use of a range of sports science resources within a technical framework to maximise athlete progression. This programme will be paramount to the conversion of individuals into the senior World Class status and to ensuring the long-term success of the sport. This role will involve coaching the young archers already in the system (regionally based) who will be brought into the national centre on a regular basis- paramount to this will be to ensure their home environments are conducive to long term progression through varying means. The other key requirement will be the co-ordination of regular TID recruitment/search and confirmation activities to ensure new archers are identified and nurtured. At set times the development coach will also support both the Olympic and Paralympic Coach in specific camps, events or training sessions.   The successful candidate will possess the following attributes: Hold a recognised coaching qualification and archery background A proven record of success in producing world class athlete performance, particularly at the world championships and Olympic Games level Have experience of working in a high performance environment Good computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Word for reports, Excel for data input and Microsoft PowerPoint for presentations (knowledge of Access would be an advantage but not essential) A specialist skill such as Physiotherapy, bio mechanic, strength and conditioning qualifications, First Aid, video editing, etc, would be an advantage, but not essential Minimum of 5 years coaching experience within a high performance environment/skill The Development Coach's salary will depend upon experience. This will be a full time position. 5 days out of 7 days as flexibility is required, as the nature of the post will involve the post-holder in mostly evening or weekend working with some overseas work at International events and training camps. The post holder will be based at Lilleshall. Driving licence holder and own car is essential.   Initial contract to 31 March 2013 (subject to continued funding by UK Sport).
