Congress awards presented in Copenhagen

World Archery President received a unique award from the Presidents of World Archery’s five continental associations thanking him for his contribution to making archery an important Olympic sport.

Prof Dr Ugur Erdener presented the 2014 nations award, presented to the most successful national team on the Archery World Cup circuit.

The 2014 Nations Award podium:

1. United States of America
2. Republic of Korea
3. Mexico

Khatuna Narimanidze received the Women’s Award 2015 for her outstanding contribution to archery as both an administrator and an active athlete. As well as her contribution to the governance structure of the Georgian federation as its President, Khatuna was also a silver medallist at the Baku 2015 European Games.

The Member Association and Female Athlete’s award for highest female participation in international events podium was also announced:

Silver plaquettes were awarded to Kim Hyung Tak, Derrick Lovell MBE, Ken Bearman, Olivier Grillat, Bruce Cull, Paul Charvnit and Jamil Baharuddin.

Retiring member of the Coaches Committee Kim Hyung Tak has coached more than 2,000 archers from 50 countries to date.

Derrick Lovell MBE, retiring chair of the 3D and Field Committee, was a previous chair of the judges committee and long-time international judge who chaired the technical officials at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Ken Bearman, chair of the Coaches Committee, has contributed to numerous coach education and development projected throughout his tenure.

Olivier Grillat, Nimes Archery Club, has contributed greatly to the growth of archery in his region, the Nimes Tournament and played a large role in the creation of the Indoor Archery World Cup.

Bruce Cull, President of the NFAA, was instrumental in the creation of the Indoor Archery World Cup, organised the World Archery 2012 Indoor Championships, the 2015 World Archery Youth Championships – and continues to host the successful Vegas Shoot.

Paul Charnvit organised the 2013 World Archery Para Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.

Major Jamil Baharuddin has served for a long time on the Board of Justice and Ethics and is Honorary Vice President of World Archery Asia.

It was also announced that Miriam El Mahiri, organiser of the Archery World Cup stage in Marrakesh, would receive a bronze plaquette.
