World and Pan Am Champion VAN LAMOEN getting ready

 
Archers took to the field today for the qualification rounds of 72 arrows. The recurve men started the morning session followed by the recurve women together with all the compound archers in early afternoon.   Below is a review of the qualifications for the World Cup stage. The qualifications for the Olympic qualifier will be reviewed in another story.   Recurve Men Individual and Team The first 36 arrows of the men’s recurve competition was characterized by chilly conditions and high winds. At that time, Bato TSYNGUEV (RUS) led the pack with a 335, followed by Sjef VAN DEN BERG (NED) and Hideki KIKUCHI (JPN) both with a 330.   Other notables were Luis A. ALVAREZ (MEX) in 4th place with a 330 and number one ranked archer in the world Brady ELLISON (USA) was in 6th place with a 328.   The top three teams were Mexico with 975 points, USA 969 points and Chinese Taipei 968 points.   In the second half the winds died down and scores increased. The number five ranked archer in the world Khairul Anuar MOHAMAD (MAS) climbed to 1st place with 668 points. The first half leader Bato TSYNGUEV (RUS) continued to shoot strong finishing also with a 668, but he shots less 10s than MOHAMAD. In 3rd place was Milad VAZIRI TEYMOORLOOEI (IRI), 666.   There were leader changes in the team scores as well. USA ascended into 1st place with a 1957. Rounding out the top three were Malaysia with a 1950 and Mexico with a 1948.   Recurve Women Individual and Team After 36 arrows, the women’s recurve field was led by Mariana AVITIA (MEX) 337 points. She was trailed by Denisse Astrid VAN LAMOEN (CHI) 333 and Ksenia PEROVA (RUS) 331.   The top women’s recurve teams are Mexico 990 points, Russia 969 points and Japan 964 points.   At the conclusion of the 72 arrow qualification round PEROVA (RUS) finished in 1st place shooting a 666. The leader at 36 arrows AVITIA (MEX) fell to 2nd place with a 663. VAN LAMOEN finished in 3rd place with 662 points.   The women’s team ranking remained the same at the conclusion of 72 arrows: Mexico 1986, Russia 1953 and Japan 1940.   Recurve Mixed Team In Recurve Mixed Team, Russia finished 1st in qualifications ahead of Mexico and the USA.   Compound Men Individual and Team World number two ranked archer Braden GELLENTHIEN (USA) led competition at the completion of 36 arrows with a score of 354 points. The current world champion Christopher PERKINS (CAN) was right behind him with a 354, in 2nd place because of the ten count. In 3rd was Peter ELZINGA (NED) with 352 points.   USA’s men’s compound team had a commanding lead with 1054 points, followed by Canada 1043 and El Salvador 1041.   At the end, PERKINS stole the lead from GELLENTHIEN shooting a 707 to GELLENTHIEN’s 705. Pierre JULIEN DELOCHE (FRA) climbed from 5th place to 3rd shooting a 705.   In the team ranking USA remained in the lead shooting a 2107. They were trailed by El Salvador and Canada both with 2091 points.   Compound Women Individual and Team World number three ranked archer Erika ANSCHUTZ (USA) was in 1st place with 350 points. Closely behind her was world number four ranked archer Jamie VAN NATTA (USA) with 349 points. Linda OCHOA held 3rd place with 346 points.   USA’s compound domination continued in the women’s division with the USA women leading the field with 1039 points. They were trailed by Italy 1022 points and Russia 1016 points.   After 72 arrows ANSCHUTZ held her lead with 697 points. ANSCHUTZ is trailed by OCHOA and the number one ranked archer in the world Albina LOGINOVA both with 690 points.   The women’s team rankings remained the same at the conclusion of 72 arrows: USA 2066, Italy 2045 and Russia 2036.   Compound Mixed Team In Compound Mixed Team, the USA finished first in qualifications ahead of Mexico and Italy.   Scott EINSMANN World Archery Communication
