“Long distances suit me better” says SAVENKOVA

“I broke my bow just before I travelled here to Nimes… and then this new one took a few days to arrive,” explains junior compounder Alexandra SAVENKOVA

“Thankfully, everything seems to be coming together now. And this morning’s training session has been good for me.”

The Russian compound archer will compete in the junior tournament in Nimes, in an effort to add the indoor world title to the cadet outdoor golds she won individually and in the mixed team at the World Archery Youth Championships in Wuxi last October.

“Long distances suit me better,” the shy Russian, and European junior indoor champion, claims. History suggests that a title in Nimes is well within her grasp: she’s medalled in every continental and world championships she has competed at so far in her young career.

A podium couldn’t do anything but help SAVENKOVA’s efforts to join Albina LOGINOVA – someone she looks up to and takes advice from – on Russia’s senior team. (A personal goal for 2014 she shared at Wuxi.)

SAVENKOVA will shoot the ranking round tomorrow, follow her progress throughout the week with live scores from Nimes.
