Day 4 in Nimes: TYACK hasn’t lost a set yet

Viktor RUBAN, even with the distraction of Ukraine’s current affairs, won his recurve men’s semi – and earned the right to face clean-sheet TYACK in the gold match. Giant-slayer Taylor WORTH will line-up for bronze opposite the guy he’s got a famously-good head-to-head record against: Brady ELLISON. Both matches are going to be classics, mark the words!

That lucky charm Aida ROMAN’s wearing is working: she’s going to shoot for gold on Sunday against Miki NAKAMURA (JPN). The Mexican’s match against Ukrainian Anastasia PAVLOVA was really, really tight.

Reo WILDE – who will defend his world title in Nimes – Braden GELLENTHIEN and Jesse BROADWATER shot a perfect 240 in team elims today. Tomorrow’s final, USA against Denmark – current outdoor world champs – is one to watch. Win&Win Archery’s Fan Reporter profiled the Danes this week.

France has a finalist. Sophie DODEMONT’s up against Christie COLIN for compound women’s gold.

USA compounders can be beaten, though, as a trio of Turkish junior women can attest. They took surprise gold in the team event – though the USA boys did then defend their title.

It’s not just ROMAN who has a lucky charm. Viktor ORASZ has one, too, and it works.

We also learnt that the World Archery website is not immune to domain name server issues! The website and apps were down for a good while early on in competition, but some IT magicians did manage to come up with a workaround before any medals were awarded.

Sorry for the inconvenience… and if ever this happens again, tune into World Archery’s Facebook, Twitter or – if it’s running – Archery TV for live coverage!

…And on a much more positive note. As well as tomorrow’s afternoon senior team finals being broadcast on Archery TV and later on Eurosport, the junior recurve finals are hitting World Archery’s YouTube channel first thing in Nimes as well! Tune in tomorrow.

Shooting a semifinal against Sophie DODEMONT? No worries, Pascale LEBEQCUE… make yourself at home! One of the best ways to take the pressure out of shooting in an arena we’ve seen.
