United States make both mixed team finals

Brady ELLISON and rookie recurve Mackenzie BROWN beat Great Britain in a semifinal shoot-off. “Mackenzie shot a really good shot, and I knew if I shot a 10 we’d win it,” said two-time World Cup Final Champion ELLISON. “So I just went out there and did it.”

BROWN gave an equally-clear response when asked if she fancied the pair’s chances against Mexico’s Aida ROMAN and Juan Rene SERRANO in the final on Sunday: “Good shots. That’s all we can do.” Great Britain, who lost the shoot-off to BROWN and ELLISON, face Chinese Taipei for bronze.

Second individual compound men’s seed Bridger DEATON, who’s also new on the scene, and partner Erika JONES only dropped a point to win their semi against India.

As it happens, India knocked out pre-event compound favourites Italy – Marcella TONIOLI and Sergio PAGNI – in the first round. (They’re always pre-event favourites, as the only pair to have ever held the world mixed team title.)
