#1 Egypt to face #2 Namibia in Olympic quota pairs final at African Games

Six quota places for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are available in Rabat.

Number one seed Egypt will take on second-ranked Namibia in the final of the recurve mixed team competition at the 2019 African Games in Rabat on Friday. The winner will qualify two quota places to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Egypt defeated Tunisa, 6-2, and Chad, 5-1, during eliminations in Rabat.

Namibia first beat South Africa, 5-1, and then Cote d’Ivoire, 6-2, to make the gold medal match.

The Egyptian pair is led by top men’s seed Youssof Tolba. Namibia’s partnership features women’s number one qualifier Quinn Reddig.

Youssof and Quinn are both Youth Olympians from Buenos Aires in 2018.

Four additional places to the next Olympics will be distributed to the countries of the highest individual finishers in Rabat that are not already qualified in the mixed team competitions. 

Individual eliminations take place on Thursday. The finals are scheduled for Friday.

Egypt will appear in at least three gold medal matches. As well as the mixed team event, Egyptian squads made the men’s and women’s team finals.

Tunisa is Egypt’s opponent in the recurve men’s team gold medal match; Cote d’Ivoire is the other recurve women’s team finalist.

The archery competitions at the 2019 African Games take place on 26-30 August in Rabat, Morocco.
