Coaching Summer Summit covers communication, technique and adaptive training

Online summer summits were scheduled monthly from May to August 2020.

This weekend’s fourth Summer Summit is focused on coaching, touching on subjects from communication with athletes to technique, plus para athletes.

A total of seven pieces of content will be released, featuring presentations and conversations with experienced coaches, each hour from 10h00 CET on Sunday 30 August. Each item is public and no prior registration is necessary.

The first third summits, which took place from May to July, were focused on athletes, tournaments and judges.

Schedule – 30 August

10h00 – Coaching internationally with Richard Priestman

The Great Britain head coach talks about his previous stops in Bangladesh and Latin America and how coaches can learn to work in – and benefit from – different cultures.

11h00 – Technique basics and video analysis

Famed Korean coach Kim Hyung Tak talks the framework for a good archery technique – both recurve and compound – and using video to coach it.

12h00 – Practice exercises to improve your shooting

A list of modern practice methods, most of which include shooting arrows, that archery can integrate into their training sessions to increase their level.

13h00 – Psychological characteristics of developing excellence

Israel coach Guy Matzkin is back, this time to talk about attitudes – of both archers and coaches – and how they affect performance.

14h00 – Roundtable: Push, pull or both?

Recurve shot execution is the subject. Kisik Lee, Goktug Ergin, Richard Priestman and Jacqueline van Rozendaal, alongside World Archery Excellence Centre director Juan Carlos Holgado, are the expert coaches talking about it.

15h00 – Roundtable: Keys to a successful coach-athlete relationship

Spanish duo Elias Cuesta and Yun Sanchez and Turkey’s Goktug Ergin and Yasemin Anagoz talk about what makes their team of archers and coaches a success.
