How archery clubs, shops and private ranges can join the 2021 Indoor Archery World Series

World Archery recently announced the rules for the 2021 Indoor Archery World Series, which is combining online and live competitions due to ongoing event and travel restrictions caused by the worldwide pandemic.

The new format presents an exciting opportunity for archery ranges of all sizes to join an international tournament.

Participating archers can shoot their 60-arrow 18-metre ranking round anywhere – and that means that any club or range can also be an official Indoor Archery World Series competition venue.

Participating locations are also able to download and use this Indoor Archery World Series and #BacktoArchery branding. The logos should not be altered in any way but people are encouraged to use them on results lists, scoresheets or pinned on the range walls.

This year’s international indoor circuit might be unusual – but with more archers worldwide able to participate, it should be the biggest yet!

Host an official event

Archers can submit their scores on the designated competition weekends through the Ianseo Scorekeeper application. Any scores shot at tournaments registered in the World Archery calendar – so of world record status – are pre-approved and no photo evidence is required.

The requirements for hosting world record status events are quite simple.

Events must be registered via a national archery federation, be supervised by an accredited judge, the tournament must run to World Archery rules and publish an official results list.

World Archery’s rulebook is available to read online.

Archers participating in the Indoor Archery World Series team competition must shoot their scores at official events. Can your club safely host an event under current local health guidelines?

Events cannot be registered directly with World Archery so contact your national archery federation to confirm the application process in your country.

Host an unofficial event

The goal of this year’s indoor circuit is to provide an opportunity for as many archers to compete as possible.

But even if it’s remote, shooting together is better. If your local authorities allow for multiple people to practise sport in the same place, get a group together to shoot your 60-arrow rounds each of the competition weekends.

Scores shot at unofficial events need a scoresheet signed by two witnesses.

This 18-metre event can (unusually) be shot indoors or outdoors. Use this year’s online Indoor Archery World Series as an excuse to get yourself – and others – back to the archery range.

Calendar – online stages

  • Stage 1: 21-22 November 2020
  • Stage 2: 19-20 December 2020
  • Stage 3: 16-17 January 2021
  • Stage 4: 13-14 February 2021
  • Finals (teams only): 27-28 February 2021

Enter a team

The Indoor Archery World Series recurve and compound team event was launched a few years ago. Up until this point, it’s predominantly been filled with squads representing manufacturers and other industry companies.

World Archery is hoping that clubs – and local shops – will enter teams in this year’s event since there is no need to travel to each tournament.

Teams consist of three archers, with at least one man and one woman, and they’ll be ranked using the three best team scores over the four weekends of the Indoor Archery World Series. Team results have to be shot at official events – but not necessarily in the same location.

The top four teams at the end of the series will be invited to compete at the Indoor Archery World Series Finals, which will be held remotely.

Could your club make it to the live final of this international tournament?

World Archery is guaranteeing 5000 CHF in prize money for both the recurve and compound competitions. Even if you don’t make it to the matchplay event, you’ll still receive a ranking against teams from around the world.

One entry to the team competition costs 60 CHF and is available to purchase through the World Archery shop.

The 2021 Indoor Archery World Series is a mass-participation circuit of live and online archery tournaments.
