Nimes Tournament 2021 opens for registration

The Sud de France – Nimes Archery Tournament, one of the two still-scheduled traditional live stages of this year’s Indoor Archery World Series alongside the Vegas Shoot, has opened for registration.

Information is available on the official event website and registration is through OpenWAREOS.

The tournament, which will take place on 15-17 January, has been authorised to go ahead under the current French government regulations with some rule changes to combat the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Entries have been limited to 850 (nearly 300 less than 2020), with each archer being given more space on the shooting line, and athletes can only bring one accompanying person, who must be pre-registered.

There will be no spectator access in 2021 – although the event will be broadcast as normal. On-site, the number of people in each area will be restricted, too.

Barebow competitions are being added for the first time in Nimes’ 33 year history. Barebow archers will be permitted to use either single-spot or triangular-triple-spot target faces.

The event coincides with the third stage of the online competition for this year’s new virtual format for the Indoor Archery World Series. Any results shot in Nimes in the recurve, compound and barebow categories will be automatically used in the open ranking for January.

Brady Ellison, Sim Yeji, Lisell Jaatma and Braden Gellenthien are the defending elite champions from the Nimes Archery Tournament in 2020.

Additional details on health restrictions for the upcoming edition, as well as travel guidelines and information about the competition itself, will be added to the Nimes Archery Tournament website throughout the winter.
