Defending champion Lancaster, Easton squad join World Series team competition

Lancaster’s winning recurve team from last year’s Indoor Archery World Series is back to defend its title.

Brady Ellison, Jack Williams and Casey Kaufhold – all members of Team USA training for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – finished the previous rankings with more than double the points of their nearest competitors from German company Beiter.

Lancaster’s total was buoyed by back-to-back wins in Nimes and Las Vegas by Ellison, who is also the reigning World Archery Champion.

Arrow manufacturer Easton joins the compound team roster for the first time this season. Linda Ochoa-Anderson, Reo Wilde and Kris Schaff boast more than 30 years of international competition experience between them.

Schaff won the Indoor Archery World Series Finals in 2019, and Wilde is a former world champion indoors (the title stopped being awarded after 2018).

After one stage, the 2021 Indoor Archery World Series team rankings are led by the top Estonian compound team and a recurve squad from the Netherlands. The second stage is scheduled for 18-20 December 2020.

The team competition at the Indoor Archery World Series is an unusual one, combining both men and women and accepting entries from national squads, companies and independent groups.

This year’s circuit is even less conventional.

The indoor series has moved entirely online, with the individual open rankings combining smaller live tournaments and a remote mass-participation concept in which any archer can compete from their club or home range.

The team event is the elite portion of this year’s series; only scores shot at tournaments registered in the World Archery calendar (and thus eligible for world records) are recognised.

Teams are ranked on their best single combined result of the season – the total of the three members' 60-arrow, 18-metre rounds shot on the same weekend.

The top four recurve and compound teams after the last stage in February will be invited to compete in the Indoor Archery World Series Finals, a remote live event with a 10,000 CHF prize purse.

Registration for the team events costs 60 CHF per team and is open until midnight CET on 31 December 2020 through the World Archery online shop.

Teams only have to compete in one of the four stages (or at the bonus live stage in Nimes) to become eligible for the finals. Still, archers intending to compete in the events from January must submit their entry before the end of December.

Registration must be fully completed before the start of a stage for scores from that stage to count.

The 2021 Indoor Archery World Series is a mass-participation circuit of live and online archery tournaments.
