Former World Archery secretary general Nino Oddo passed away on 16 August 2023 at the age of 81.

A leading figure in coach education in Italy, he made a significant contribution to the development of the sport domestically as well as maintaining the history of the Italian archery federation, FITArco.

He was secretary general of World Archery, then called FITA, in 1979-81 before serving on the target committee for the next two years until 1983. Some years later he was a member of the coaching committee from 2007 to 2011.

World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen expressed his condolences to Nino’s wife and family on behalf of the international archery community:

“Nino’s passion was coach education and he played a key role in the growth of FITArco. He was the brother in law of Beppe Cinnirella, who succeeded him as secretary general of World Archery, and integral to the international archery family.”

“Italian archery lost an amazing volunteer today but he will continue to remain with us through the people he introduced to our sport. Grazie, Nino.”
