Korea names Olympic team for London

LEE Sung Jin, KI Bo Bae and CHOI Hyeonju at Antalya 2012 World Cup The Korean Olympic team has been confirmed officially. The athletes selected are OH Jin Hyek, IM Dong Hyun and KIM Bubmin (recurve men) and KI Bo Bae, LEE Sung Jin and CHOI Hyeonju (recurve women). The Korean Olympic team has been confirmed officially. The recurve men team will be made of the 2011 World Championships runner-up OH Jin Hyek, the 2008 Olympic team champion IM Dong Hyun and the newcomer KIM Bubmin, with the reigning individual world champion KIM Woojin as alternate. In the women’s category, Korea will be represented by the leader of the World Ranking KI Bo Bae, the 2004 Olympic team champion LEE Sung Jin and the newcomer CHOI Hyeonju. The alternate is CHANG Hye Jin, who has competed in both the World Cup events already held this year. The team regularly trains at the Mokdong Baseball Stadium, home of the Nexen Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization, as preparation to the London Olympic Games. The shooting circumstances there are very similar to those of the Lord’s Cricket Ground, the venue for the Olympic archery competition. A simulation of competition was held on 26 May in the form of a team round, the men shooting against the women. The simulation was complete with every arrow announced, and the public reacted with ovations whenever an archer shot a 10, and boos when an arrow landed in the red zone. The archers were relatively nervous but were able to control their nerves and focus on the shots. The Korean archery team has used this baseball stadium as a training facility for the Olympic or Asian Games since the year 2000. The multiple Olympic champion from 1988 and 2000 KIM Soo-Nyung said: "I have experienced shooting in the baseball stadium in 2000 before the Sydney Olympic Games, and was very nervous to shoot the first arrows".
