"We are ready to shoot in any circumstances at Lord’s"

IM Dong Hyun, KIM Bub Min and OH Jin Hyek

A media day for the Korean delegation of the London 2012 Olympic Games was held on 27 June 2012 at the Tea-Reung Training Centre in Seoul. Archery was of course at the core of the debates as the Korean archery team has won a truly impressive 16 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals throughout the history of the modern Olympic Games.

A media day in Korea is important as these kinds of days are only held before the Asian Games or Olympic Games. Here is what the Korean archery competitors stated:

OH Jin Hyek

I will not say that I want to win the individual Olympic gold medal, but of course I will do my best to win it. What is important, and I truly believe so, is that one of the Korean team members will win the gold medal in men’s individual. I’m ready to clap for the one who will become Olympic champion.

IM Dong Hyun

This is my third participation in the Olympic Games. This is really a precious opportunity for me and maybe the London Games will be my last. This is one more reason to do my best.

I was so young and so nervous competing at my first Olympic Games in Athens 2004. In Beijing 2008, I was already able to better manage the strain and the pressure. Today I feel ever more confident than at those past Olympics.

KIM Bub Min

My goal for the London Olympic Games is two gold medals. I feel some apprehension with the alternate shooting format for every match, but I need to turn it into positive pressure. I hope to live great things.

KI Bo Bae, CHOI Hyun Ju and LEE Sung Jin

LEE Sung Jin

This time there is more pressure than in Athens 2004, but let’s concentrate first on the team event. Let’s also focus on trying to make all the team members feel well in London. Then I will do my best individually.

KI Bo Bae

I wasn’t able to win a gold medal at major individual events such as the 2010 Asian Games and the 2011 World Championships. Maybe I put too much pressure on myself. Now I am ready to shoot at the London Olympic Games with a lot of courage. I want to win medals of any colour in London.

CHOI Hyeon Ju

I don’t have as much experience as the others, because this is my first year in the team. I want to do my part of the work so that these moments in London are as great as I have always imagined.
