During "Artek", the final of the Ukrainian competition for pupils "Olympics Stork" was organised by the Ukrainian Olympic Committee (Stork is the mascot of the Ukrainian Olympic team).

Archery was represented by the 2008 Olympian and Chairwoman of the World Archery Athletes Committee Viktoriya KOVAL, as well as the individual bronze medallist of Atlanta 1996 and team silver medallist of Sydney 2000 Olena SADOVNYCHA.

Twenty-seven teams representing every region of Ukraine took part in Artek. The event started with an opening ceremony. During the seven-day camp, the children had physical education classes and master classes, and had meetings with Olympians. The children participated also in sport relay, Olympic quizzes, and art ball (a special sport team play of "Artek").

Viktoriya KOVAL and Olena SADOVNYCHA presented the bow and the sport of archery to the children, spoke about their early years in the sport and about their respective careers, and answered the children’s questions. It was a very positive experience for the Olympians and an unforgettable one for the aspiring champions. Everyone is looking forward to the next meeting in 2013.
