Flash Quotes from practice and familiarisation sessions - Part 2

Comments from the athletes after the practice and familiarisation sessions on the archery field of competition at Lord's Cricket Ground on Wednesday.   Men   Rafal DOBROWOLSKI (POL)   On the logo for London 2012:
"At first when I saw the logo, I thought it was not pretty, maybe even ugly. But here, against the backdrop of Lord's, I think it is really nice. My opinion of the logo has changed."   On his family and friends watching at home in Poland:
"They will be watching every bit of the event. They will wait every day for the transmission."   On London:
"This is my first time in London and I love it. It is really good. I have visited many cities and London is definitely in the top three."   On his hopes for the London 2012 Olympic Games:
"I feel good now, but I will feel so much better when I shoot and I do well."   Haziq KAMARUDDIN (MAS) On the session: "Today was good, but now I am waiting for the competition and the spectators. We need the people."   KUO Cheng-Wei (TPE)   On his target score for the ranking round:
"You know, I try not to think about it when I am shooting. It just distracts me."   On whether he looked at what other archers were doing:
"I watched the Koreans shoot, but not closely because it also distracts me."   Jacob WUKIE (USA)   On having a lot of friends and family coming to watch him:
"I think 10 of my family members are coming and more friends to cheer in the stand. But I don't know if they are going to be holding big cards."   On being the last team in the familiarisation session:
"We knew that we have to shoot last because it is by alphabetical order. We enjoyed the wait but it was a long day."   Brady ELLISON (USA)   On the venue:
"I'm hoping the wind stays away. If the wind picks up I'm curious to see what the wind will do to the arrows in the last half. It could become a game of luck but sometimes that's what archery is about. I'm sure the good shooters will still hit good scores and be on top."   Women   Natalia VALEEVA (ITA)   On shooting at Lord's:
"Compared to the test event, this field has changed a lot. I prefer it now because the two stands protect you from the wind. So this is a positive side." "However, there is always another side when you flip a coin. This is the unpredictability of the wind itself. You are forced to look at flags and windsocks. Arrows will be affected mostly in the middle of the field where there are no stands or protections at all." "You do not have to think about this historical venue while shooting, otherwise you will feel like a newcomer. You have to focus on yourself and find your inner harmony." "At least this is what I am trying to do. There will be lots of people on the stands and I will try to isolate their voices. All in all, I have got used to it and they do not bother me anymore." "My name is not 'earplugs'. I am Natalia VALEEVA. I will not ignore them, I will not pay attention to them, I will just shoot and do the best I can."   On failing to prepare for the weather:
"I brought sweaters, I brought jumpers and long trousers. And, guess what? I did not take any sun lotion with me (laughs)."   On why she is predicting rain when she shoots:
"I am not worried about the weather forecasts in the next days. It is always raining when Italy are shooting. Even on the desert lands in Odgen (Utah) it hardly ever rains and it rained just when we were shooting. I am used to it. It is always like this."   Maureen TUIMALEALIIFANO (SAM)   On getting time off work:
"I am a bank manager. They let me have special leave on full pay so I am very happy. I am so surprised to be here, everything is so beautiful."   Karen HULTZER (RSA)   On how she feels ahead of the competition:
"I am absolutely excited but also petrified. I can't wait and I just want to go home at the same time (laughs)."   On her knowledge of Lord's:
"I'm a little bit of a cricket fan, but only when they're doing well like this week."   On her impressions of the venue:
"It is amazing. It is phenomenal. It looks like an assault course. I didn't know if I had to do forward rolls and climb over everything or not (laughs)."   Inna STEPANOVA (RUS)   On her scores at the practice session at Lord's:
"I shot 10 eight times today, which was good."   On her aim at the ranking round:
"My goal is to get at least 670."   On her plans after the London 2012 Games:
"I am going to take a long rest back in Russia, or maybe travel overseas. I haven't made plans, but it is the idea that keeps me going."   Ana Maria RENDON (COL)   On the distractions in the stadium:
"The stadium has too many distractions like the moving camera, but that is the same as Beijing. I feel more comfortable and secure here than I did there. I like the big purple box and the box that looks like it is grass."   On the toys she carries attached to her bag and her chestguard:
"I have a lot of toys on me and my bag like my Angry Bird. They are all from different friends, family and my boyfriend so when I have the toys with me they are with me also."   Jennifer NICHOLS (USA)   On the venue:
"It is absolutely beautiful. I cannot say that I have ever shot in a venue that is this beautiful."   On being the final team of the day:
"That was not a problem at all for us. Being the last team through was actually pretty cool. It was kind of nice, pretty relaxing and enjoyable."   Source: ONS Edited by World Archery Communication
