IM Dong Hyun has a second medal in his sights

Larry GODREY (GBR)    The individual men's and women's competition begins at Lord's Cricket Ground on Monday with the 1/32 and 1/16 eliminations. World record holder IM Dong Hyun (KOR) begins his campaign against Emanuele GUIDI (SMR), hoping to add to his team bronze medal.   Men's competition   IM will be trying to become Korea's first winner of the Olympic men's individual competition. He shot 699 in the ranking round to break his world record for 72 arrows at 70m.   Larry GODFREY (GBR) qualified in 4th and is in good form but faces a tough start. A first-round victory over Md Emdadul Haque MILON (BAN) is within his capabilities, but then he will face either Juan Rene SERRANO (MEX), who was 4th at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, or 2-times Olympic gold medallist Marco GALIAZZO (ITA), who won gold in the team event on Saturday.   Crispin DUENAS (CAN) was impressive in the ranking round, finishing 8th. He will face Ahmed EL-NEMR (EGY).   Netherlands narrowly missed out on having a team at the Games after a poor performance at the final qualification tournament. European champion Rick VAN DER WEN is here, though, and begins his campaign against Jeff HENCKELS (LUX).   Women's competition   TAN Ya-Ting (TPE) is ranked only No. 24 in the world but is seeded 3rd for the competition after the ranking round. She scored the same number of points as the two 2 seeds. She takes on Nathalie DIELEN (SUI) in her 1/32 elimination.   Tetyana DOROKHOVA (UKR) and Miki KANIE (JPN) will renew rivalry after their sides met in the team competition on Sunday, with KANIE coming out on top. She was the most impressive of her teammates in the ranking round.   Pia LIONETTI (ITA) will have little time to correct the faults that led to her shooting a 3 and a 5 in the team round. She will face Karen HULTZER (RSA) in the third match.   India has had a poor Games, with both teams being knocked out in the first round when they were medal hopes. Bombayla Devi LAISHRAM will be looking to make amends against Evangelia PSARRA (GRE) and try to claim India's first archery medal in history.   Source: ONS Edited by World Archery Communication
