Para-archery expert Helen GEORGE (GBR) carries the Torch

She carried the Torch from Stoke Mandeville in Buckinghamshire, which is where her career in archery all began.   Helen GEORGE was selected for her tireless work in supporting the Paralympic archery team who represents Great Britain at the Games. She has worked tirelessly within her community, all the way through to elite level. She was a winner of the Community Sports Coach of the Year Award 2006, from Sports Coach UK.   She connects with people of all ages and abilities, working to encourage youngsters to participate in the sport of archery, right through to supporting the Paralympic World Class Archery Performance Squad at regular training camps and international events by using all her experience to deliver the message at the right level at the right time.   She has also been instrumental in Talent Identification, disabled coach mentoring and developing new archers in readiness for Rio 2016. Her love for all that is archery is evident through just a warm smile and a few beautifully chosen words of encouragement and inspiration at exactly the right moment-whatever the situation.   Archery GB could not wish for a more fitting honour to celebrate and recognise her talents and contribution than that of Torchbearer for London 2012.   Source: London 2012 Edited by World Archery Communication
