Archery has proved a big hit with British politicians for a second year running

He said: "Archery proved very popular at the Olympics and Paralympics, and it's great to have so much interest. It's a welcome break from a busy Parliamentary day, and all those who have popped by really enjoyed the opportunity."      Big Ben welcomes archery session (©Archery GB) Among them was the former Conservative Party leader Iain DUNCAN SMITH, a current Minister of State. He said: "I saw it on TV during the Olympics, and it looked great fun, so it's great to give it a try. It makes you realise just how good the Olympic and Paralympic archers are!"   Indeed, he did so well that Mr DUNCAN SMITH posted the second highest score of the day (45) with his six arrows, but the MP with the most natural ability was Glyn DAVIES, who shot a score of 48. "I really enjoyed it, and to come out with the top score has made my day," he said.   The trip to Westminster by Archery GB was in advance of the launch of its 'Arrows' initiative, which is a nationwide scheme designed to introduce young children to archery.   "Thanks to the Olympics and Paralympics, along with 'Brave' and 'The Hunger Games' at the cinema, we've had enormous interest in our sport, and Arrows has been inspired by that," said David HARRISON, Chairman of Archery GB. "We want to help teachers introduce our sport to young children throughout the country, encouraging them to have fun, and who knows, we might unearth an Olympic champion of the future!"   Follow Archery GB on Twitter: @archerygb   Peter JONES Media, Archery GB, +44 (7841) 997408 Edited by World Archery Communication
