2008 AAE Arizona - US Archery Team Qualifier Champions, Mckittrick, Beaudet, Gellenthien, Lorenti Phoenix (USA) - 15 April 2008
The individual elimination championship round took place on Saturday April 12, 2008 Each competitor competed head to head in 12 arrow, 120 possible points per match, seeded after two days of qualification. All competition took place at 70 meters, the Olympic distance. Four archers won their way to the top of the field of almost 200 competitors.  
Jason Mckittrick won the Gold in the Male Recurve division with 106 over Silver medalist Dan Schuller.s 103. Canadian Crispin Duenas scored a 109 for a two point victory and the Bronze medal over Arizona’s own Brady Ellison 107.  
Canadian Marie-Pier Beaudet, 2002 AZ Cup Women Recurve Champion, won gold again with a one point victory over Jennifer Nichols 107-106 Khatuna Lorig defeated Canadian Kateri Vrakking 115 to 106 for the Bronze.  
The Men’s Compound Division was the largest group. Braden Gellenthien repeated as AZ Cup Gold Medalist with a score of 118 to Silver medalists, Logan Wilde’s, 114. Mexico’s Ruben Ochoa won the Bronze over 2008 Las Vegas World Archery Festival Champion Dave Cousins 112 to 111.  
2007 AZ Cup Bronze Medalist Women Compound, Brittany Lorenti won Gold in 2008 with a one point victory over Silver medalist Jamie Van Natta, 112 to 111 Sally Seipp defeated Mexican Carmen Santacruz with a 110 to 103.  
Title sponsor AAE Cavalier USA provided $5000 in awards and prize money. The tournament is hosted by the Arizona State Archery Association. Complete results can be found at www.arizonacup.com  
The Ben Avery Shooting Facility FITA range has been recently upgraded by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Improvements include permanent canopies for the archers and spectators and ample parking space.
