Individual Competition (World Championships)   Qualification round The athletes shoot 36 arrows at each of the following distances:        Men: 90, 70, 50 and 30 meters Women: 70, 60, 50 and 30 meters   This means that, in total, 144 arrows are shot. This round is shot during the first 2 days of competition to select the top 128 men and top 128 women in each division and the top 16 men's and women's team in each division. At the 2 long distances (90m and 70m for men, 70m and 60m for women), each archer will shoot each end of 6 arrows within 4 minutes on a 122cm face. At the short distances (50m and 30m), each archer will shoot 3 arrows in 2 minutes on an 80cm face.   The top 128 men and top 128 women in each division of the qualification round will proceed to the Elimination Rounds.

Elimination and Final rounds

The archers (top 128 men and top 128 women) will be placed on a single Elimination Pairing Chart according to their placing in the Qualification Round. The other numbers on the chart show how the winners would progress if the higher-ranked archer won each match. From this stage on, the only distance is 70 meters for both men and women. The archers shoot 4 ends of 3 arrows or 2 ends of 6 arrows, a total of 12 arrows on a 122cm face. They have 2 minutes or 4 minutes to shoot depending on the number of arrows per end.

The eight winning archers will go on to the quarter-finals. Each athlete will have a separate target and will shoot 4 ends of 3 arrows (12 arrows) per match. All finals matches will be shot with the archers alternating their shots. Each archer will have up to 30 seconds to shoot one arrow when alternating.

The final rounds start with the semi-final competition. The losers of the semi-finals shoot for the bronze and the winners for the gold and silver medals.

Team Competition

The top 16 men's and women's teams in each bow division will be selected using the combined top three scores from the Individual Qualification Round. All members of a team must be of the same gender, same bow division and from the same country. The target is 122cm at 70 meters for both men and women.   One match consists of 24 arrows: 4 ends of 6 arrows per end. Each team member shoots 2 arrows per end (2 arrows x 3 archers x 4 ends = 24 arrows). All 3 archers on a team will be required to finish shooting before the prescribed time limit (2 minutes). The archers may shoot in any sequence and but may shoot only 1 arrow each time they are on the shooting line during alternating competition.   The Finals Round starts with the semi-final competition. The losers of the semi-finals shoot for the Bronze and the winners for the Gold and Silver Medals.   World Games Archery at the World Games
